Isi Metzstein, father figure to Scottish architecture, was given an emotional send off tonight within the gothic splendour of Glasgow University’s Bute Hall.

Christopher Platt, director at Studio KAP and professor of architecture at the Glasgow School of Architecture opened proceedings with a toast to Metzstein’s children, Ruth, Mark and Saul, quoting Ruth’s wish that the event be “something like what we do at home, just with a few more people around.”

Richard Murphy paid an emotional tribute to the architectural grand master, whom he described as a “great influence” after boarding the 'Isi express' from Edinburgh.
