Miller Developments has drawn up plans for a £12m mixed use development comprising up to 40 new homes and a restaurant on the site of Linwood’s former Rootes car plan – famous for its production of the Hillman Imp.

The plans constitute the first phase of a wider £100m redevelopment of the ,a href="http://www.urbanrealm.com/features/346/Carbuncles_2012%3A_Linwood.html">Carbuncle town.

The development will rise adjacent to the existing Phoenixretail park and includes the phased implementation of infrastructure to open up the 120 acre site over the coming years.

Should the plans be approved by Renfrewshire Council work could commence on site by the autumn for completion by 2014.

Miller purchased the site from the administrators to Mountgrange (Linwood) Ltd and have outline consent for a total of 300 homes and 64,000sq/m of offices and industrial buildings.

A public consultation on the plans is being held at the Tannahill Centre, Blackstoun Rd, Linwood from 10am to 3pm.
