Dundee House unwrapped

Dundee House unwrapped
Reiach & Hall’s £20m office development for Dundee Council has emerged from scaffolding ahead of its occupation by Dundee City Council.

It has been built behind the listed façade of a former DC Thompson printworks with the original double height printing hall transformed into a public arcade.

A new glazed building steps up behind the arcade while the ‘servant spaces’, the stairs, lifts, toilets and service risers, are located along the rear elevation.

It will also feature a new civic square to be made possible thanks to a reduction of surface car parking.

Tayside House, the Council’s current home, will be demolished in September as part of the city’s Central Waterfront Development.

mmm, not so sure about the front gallery or proportions at the front but the back is beautiful enough and certainly better than that dunlop monstrosity!
