Plook town in line for £6m facelift
Things are looking up for John O’Groats, Britain’s most northerly Carbuncle, after £6m plans were unveiled to give the hamlet a boost.

Putting the Carbuncle award 2010 behind it the community are kicking off 2011 on much firmer footing with plans for the redevelopment of the John O’Groats hotel and grounds into self catering holiday apartments.

A revamp is also on the cards for the famous Last House Museum and Journey’s End café.

Natural Retreats are the developers behind the much needed plans, with ambitions to construct a further 23 holiday lodges on a Greenfield site skirting the hotel, the first of which could be available from 2013.

The improvement scheme has been made possible thanks to a £1.6m injection of cash from Highland’s and Islands Enterprise.

Was it only 18 months ago that there were plans for Brigadoon New Town at John O'Groats? Glad to see that's passed away: but Pentland Business Park?
