ASL write fresh chapter for University of Edinburgh
Austin-Smith:Lord have received planning permission to construct a library and learning hub for the University of Edinburgh.

Providing flexible study environments for students the centre is designed to provide a social, learning and administrative focal point for the College of Science and Engineering.

This takes the form of a two storey ‘Podium Hub’ which houses a café and meeting area designed to accommodate lively discourse.

On upper levels a series of quieter and acoustically separated study spaces have been designed with opportunity to expand onto an outdoor roof terrace.

Both ASL and their client are keen to promote high standards of sustainable design with the centre and are on target to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
