Scottish rail improvements unveiled
Transport Scotland have announced their winter rail timetable which reveals a doubling in frequency of services between Glasgow and Edinburgh through introduction of an hourly service between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley.

This marks the first stage of a £1bn plan to reduce journey times to 35 mins and increase train frequency with Network Rail are picking up the tab for electrification of 350km of track, improvements to track infrastructure and a train/tram interchange at Gogar.

In addition new early morning departures will allow people outwith Scotland’s biggest two cities will allow travellers to more easily reach London by connecting with existing services.
