Archial gain planning permission for Caledonian Canalside flats

June 16 2009

Archial Architects has secured planning permission for what they describe as an "ambitious and elegant" development of 81 apartments alongside Inverness’s.

The development will see the construction of six three, four and five storey blocks of flats on the site of a derelict filling station on the A82 and Torvean Caravan Park.

“We were delighted to work with the developer and the area’s planning officials on what has been a demanding brief for this prestigious city gateway site," said Greg Duncan, Director at Inverness-based Archial.

"All involved wished to ensure that the proposal for this brownfield site would deliver well designed homes for Inverness’s people. We also wanted to ensure that it delivered a strong message to tourists and potential inward investors that Inverness is a modern, vibrant city, confident and embracing leading edge design in its architectural portfolio. It is important, too, that Inverness's architecture reflects its identity as a modern city.
