St Andrew's on an upswing
The golfing mecca of St Andrew’s is to receive a new Hotel du Vin after the hotel chain hit a straight putt past Fife Council’s planners.

The £10million proposal from 3DReid will transform the St  Andrews Golf Hotel on the Scores into a 40 bed luxury Hotel du Vin.

The Hotel plans include the retention of traditional elements including students favourite drinking den, ‘Ma  Bells’.

Fused with this will be an 18 bed extension to the rear of the hotel around an external courtyard with underground parking.  This will be accommodated by the demolition of an existing function hall.

The hotel facilities will cater for thirsty golfers and locals alike with a new bar, bistro, whisky sampling room and an extensive wine cellar providing ample choice for a tipple.

Robert Cook, Chief Executive of Hotel du Vin commented:  “It has long been our aspiration to add a Hotel du Vin in St Andrews to  our portfolio and as such we are delighted that our planning application has been approved by Fife Council’s North East Fife Area  Committee today.   We would especially like to thank the local community, most of whom have supported our proposals from the  start.  We are now determined to invest the time, money and energy necessary to create a hotel that the locals of St  Andrews can  be exceptionally proud of.”

It is hoped the project can be completed by 2010.
