In a bid to brighten up the darker corners of the mag Urban Realm has  invited some of the country’s top cartoonists to give us their take on  our built environment.

In a bid to brighten up the darker corners of the mag Urban Realm has invited some of the country’s top cartoonists to give us their take on our built environment.

The architectural scene is ripe for caricature from the quirky personalities at the heart of the profession to the often surreal design decisions of some of our worst ‘Carbuncles’ and the political fall-out from white elephants such as Edinburgh’s Tram project.

Here Patrick Strickland and Jim Stewart, publisher of Ganjaman, give us a taster for takes place within their fertile minds with an irreverent look at some recent design shenanigans.

From Zaha Hadid’s waterfront echocardiogram to a satirical look at Brad Pitt’s efforts to transform Glasgow into a post-apocalyptic Philadelphia, these drawings illustrate the power of simple image to both amuse and politicise.
