2014
With a site situated on the North Bank of the idyllic setting of the River Dee, Banchory the Project brief was to demolish the existing 1960’s detached bungalow and replace with new build contemporary energy efficient family home with the main living areas facing south onto the River Dee.

The main concept was to create a 1 ¾ storey dwelling traditional pitched roof form and sub divide the structure with a series of material changes and massing variations accentuating the vertical and horizontal elements. This was achieved with the use of a well thought out material palette of UV treated western red cedar & acrylic white render to the facades, lead dormers and a natural slate for the Roof.

The North elevation of the dwelling provides a more minimalist & private approach in contrast to the South Elevation which by means of an extended double height glazed gable section allows light to flood in to the principal living areas with stunning views to the river.
