Whitelee Wind Farm Visitor Centre
After winning the design competition Hypostyle Architects were appointed by Scottish Power to develop the proposals for a Visitors’ Centre at Whitelee, Eaglesham. The new facility provides a learning experience for visitors to the Windfarm. The main educational theme is renewable energy, wider sustainability issues and local history – providing information to the general public on the possibilities of energy efficiency and sustainability within their own homes is a key objective. The building itself encompasses this sustainability theme within the design with the use of sustainable materials and ambient energy for heat and light. Improved footpath and access routes also promotes sustainable public travel.
