Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Entrance and Reception

Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Entrance and Reception
2009
The new main entrance and reception areas were designed as modern interventions to compliment the existing accommodation which have to be built within the confines of the fully operational hospital and facilitate the growing number of patients being treated at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in support of their new status of specialist West of Scotland Heart and Lung Centre.

The bold V-shaped gateway structure announces the hospital’s main arrival point as you arrive at the site whilst the new-look reception is modern, light and airy  and provides increased space and capacity to enhance the patient experience and to ensure a pleasant and safe working environment for staff and visitors.

The redesigned front entrance provides a covered glazed walkway to the main entrance as well as separate ambulance entrance to maintain patient privacy during transfer as well as dedicated ambulance parking and transport drop off points for patients and visitors.

The design and construction utilises large areas of polished ‘Trespa’ cladding and glazing, internally and externally,  to connect the spaces and achieve a civic public space with complimentary hard landscaped entrance concourse, interspersed with feature planting, furniture and lighting.
