Moray Place

Moray Place
2017
We were challenged to create ‘one of the best apartments in Edinburgh’ - no mean feat. The starting point wasn’t great; two Georgian town houses which were altered unsympathetically in the 1930s to form large properties on each of the six floors.

A huge amount of effort was spent reinstating the original front drawing rooms; now a kitchen/dining room and a drawing room - the scale of the whole apartment is something else. Small things have made a huge difference; whitened oak flooring laid in a herringbone pattern and contrasting radiators and doors add drama and punctuation to the grand spaces.

Modern concerns for city living were all addressed as part of the project; inter-connectivity, light, heating, energy and controllability. The end result breaths new life into this Grade A listed New Town home. We and our clients are convinced that it was all worth the significant effort.
