Renowned Mexican architect dies at 94

The Mexican architect Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, founder of the National Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Modern Art and the Azteca Stadium, died this afternoon.

Among the works include: the Basilica of Guadalupe, the San Lazaro Legislative Palace, the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) in Tlatelolco, the Museum of Templo Mayor and the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM and other important buildings. Ramirez Vazquez was a member of the Science Advisory Council of the Mexican government. In 1968, he chaired the Organizing Committee for the Games of the XIX Olympiad conducted in Mexico City that same year. During the presidency of former President Lopez Portillo served as Secretary of Human Settlements and Public Works.
